As women get older and levels of estrogen decline, they experience unexpected vaginal changes that cause health problems and affect their sex life. ThermiVa® offers a gentle and effective solution – without surgery or downtime. Dr. Judy Wei at WEI Aesthetic Institute offers treatment with ThermiVa to their patients with vaginal atrophy.

What is vaginal atrophy?
Vaginal atrophy develops when estrogen levels go down. Estrogen is essential for vaginal health – it keeps tissues lining the vagina elastic and maintains adequate blood flow and lubrication. When your ovaries stop producing estrogen at menopause – or when estrogen levels decline for any health reason – vaginal walls become dry, lose elasticity, and thin out.
It’s estimated that half of all women develop vaginal atrophy after menopause. These changes cause symptoms that affect personal and sexual health such as:
-
Vaginal dryness
-
Painful intercourse
-
Vaginal burning
-
Genital itching
-
Pain or burning during urination
-
Urinary incontinence
How does ThermiVa treat vaginal atrophy?
ThermiVa uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to treat tissues inside the vagina. A specially designed applicator is inserted into your vagina, where it sends out RF waves that penetrate the vaginal lining.
Gentle heat created by RF energy triggers a response that rejuvenates tissues in the vagina. The existing collagen contracts to create an automatic tightening effect. More importantly, the heat is controlled to reach a therapeutic temperature that activates the synthesis of new collagen and increases blood flow.
As tissues are regenerated, vaginal health returns. The tone and texture of the vaginal lining improve, vaginal walls tighten, and you gain relief from symptoms caused by vaginal atrophy. RF treatment may also improve mild to moderate stress urinary incontinence.
What should you expect during treatment with ThermiVa?
One treatment with ThermiVa takes about 30 minutes or less. Radiofrequency therapy is gentle and well tolerated, so you won’t need anesthesia. ThermiVa automatically monitors tissue temperature and RF emission to keep the procedure safe and comfortable.
When will you notice results?
It takes a little time for new collagen to develop and for the blood supply to improve. These changes continue for about six months after your treatment, so you’ll see ongoing, gradual improvement in vaginal health.
Healing time and the number of treatments you may need to achieve optimal results vary with each person.
